Job summary

CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL seeks a licensed Practical Nurse to provide professional nursing care under supervision in an assigned unit. The role includes administering medications, maintaining patient records, and supporting discharge planning.

The ideal candidate will have an accredited Practical Nursing program, Illinois LPN licensure, and BLS and acute care experience is preferred. This is a full-time, day shift position with benefits described in the posted notice.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing education program.
• Current Illinois Licensed Practical Nurse Licensure required.
• Previous experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
• Must obtain BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Administers and controls narcotics, medications and IV therapies per LPN guidelines.
• Maintains patient records and documents to ensure accurate medical and nursing care records.
• Assists with assessing and planning patient/family education and discharge needs.
• Recognizes and responds to emergency situations appropriately.
• Collaborates with the Registered Nurse or Physician in problem-solving, delegation and evaluating patient care team functions.
• Promotes an environment conducive to professional practice and acts as a resource for staff.
• Practices nursing skills based on current scientific knowledge.
