Base pay range: $80,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr

Job Details

Job Title: Medical Management Specialist

Location: 9442 Capital of Texas Highway, Plaza 2 Austin TX

Duration: May 2025 to October 2025, contract to hire

Pay rate: $40.00/hr on W2 or $80k annual salary

This is a telephonic-only position for the Travis County STAR/CHIP LOB. It is a Special Beginnings role; experience with L&D, postpartum care, and newborn/NICU is important. NICU experience is not required.

Job Purpose

This position involves conducting medical management and health education programs for customers on government health care programs. Responsibilities include gathering, analyzing data for regulatory reports, and representing the company to members.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with 3 years of clinical care or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), including 2 years of clinical practice for LPC or LMSW licensing.
  • Current, valid, unrestricted license in the state of operations (or reciprocity). For compact licensees relocating, active, unrestricted RN licensure in the new state must be obtained within 90 days.
  • Plus 3 years of wellness or managed care experience presenting clinical issues with members/physicians.
  • Knowledge of the health and wellness marketplace and employer trends.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for discussing medical needs and interfacing with staff, management, vendors, and community resources.
  • Analytical skills including medical data analysis.
  • Current driver's license, transportation, and applicable insurance.
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned territory.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database experience, and web-based applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 years of clinical experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Transition of Care experience.
  • Experience managing complex or catastrophic cases.
  • Certification in Case Management, Training, Project Management, or other recognized healthcare certification.
