Job summary

UF Health in Gainesville is seeking a Registered Professional Nurse to identify health changes, assess patient responses, and implement nursing interventions to achieve optimal outcomes.

The RN coordinates care across disciplines, supervises LPNs/UAP, and delegates appropriately while sustaining a positive, trusting environment and patient advocacy.

Qualifications

• BSN and professional nursing board certification preferred at time of hire.
• BSN must be obtained within three years of hire if not already held.
• If hired after 2011-06-30, certification must be obtained after two years.

Responsibilities

• Identify patient health alterations and monitor changes in status.
• Assess patient responses and implement nursing interventions.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care and adjust plans as needed.
• Coordinate care with other disciplines to optimize outcomes.
• Supervise/delegate care to LPNs and UAP as appropriate.
• Contribute to a positive unit environment and patient advocacy.

The Registered Professional Nurse provides and coordinates comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The RN assesses patient needs, develops and implements nursing interventions, evaluates outcomes, and collaborates with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team throughout the care process.

• Performs patient assessments and identifies actual and potential health concerns.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized nursing interventions and plans of care.
• Involves patients, families, and significant others in assessment, planning, and care decisions whenever possible.
• Supervises and directs care provided by Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel.
• Assigns and delegates care to qualified members of the healthcare team.
• Coordinates patient care across professional disciplines.
• Advocates for patients and promotes safe, compassionate, and individualized care.
• Participates in unit-based activities that support a positive and professional work environment.
• Demonstrates autonomous and accountable nursing practice while fostering teamwork, trust, and collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• BSN preferred at time of hire
• Nurses hired without a BSN must obtain a BSN within three (3) years of hire

Licensure & Certification

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida
• Professional nursing board certification preferred at time of hire
• Nurses hired without professional nursing board certification must obtain certification after two (2) years of hire, or upon reaching the certification eligibility date if more than two years of experience is required
