Job summary

DCH Health System seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to lead nursing care, supervise non-licensed staff, and ensure adherence to standards of care. The role involves direct patient care, education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across units.

Ideal candidates will hold an Alabama RN license (or multi-state), BLS, and prefer BSN; ACLS/PALS may be required per department. On-site shifts with weekend obligations are common.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Alabama or multi-state license required or ability to obtain prior to start.
• Must have BLS certification; ACLS/PALS as per unit requirements.
• BSN preferred; Associate degree required.
• Effective reading, writing, speaking and comprehension of English.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient's physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and cultural needs on admission and ongoing.
• Plan, provide, educate patient and family; document education and barriers to learning.
• Evaluate and coordinate care with patient, family, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve outcomes.
• Assign and delegate nursing care to team members according to patient needs.
• Apply safety principles in care delivery and document changes in care plans.
• Provide handoff reports and participate in unit huddles.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and PI teams.
• Perform initial and annual competency assessments for job class.
