Job summary

Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, KS is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse Lactation Consultant to provide lactation support and clinical management for mother/infant pairs, in collaboration with the healthcare team.

You will document care, stay current with lactation research, and help identify issues early. A nursing degree, state RN licensure, and BCLS are required, with IBCLC eligibility within 2 years.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
• BCLS required.
• If not currently an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), must obtain within 2 years. If preparing for testing to become IBCLC, current registry in good standing with at least one of the following credentialing agencies is required
• Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (Lactation Education Resources)
• Certified Breastfeeding Educator (Lactation Consultant Services)
• Completion of Certified Lactation Specialist Course (Lactation Education Consultants)
• Certified Breastfeeding Advisor (Rising Star Education)
• A minimum of 3 years clinical experience in maternal/neonatal nursing

Responsibilities

• Provide lactation support services and clinical management for breastfeeding mother/infants, in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, families and significant others.
• Decisions and actions reflect licensure and certification requirements, including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation.
• Documentation of care and communication with all involved in mother/infant care.
• Identify/prevent breastfeeding problems and apply up-to-date research and technology.
