Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Labor and Delivery registered nurse for Kernersville Medical Center, a newly opened 12-bed unit. You will work the 7P-7A night shift (36 hours) and participate in self scheduling, including every third weekend.

Prior L&D experience is required, and you will join a multidisciplinary team that supports mothers, babies, and families. The role emphasizes direct nursing care during labor, delivery, immediate recovery, and postpartum care with a focus on maternal and newborn

Qualifications

• Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; active RN license required.
• RN license must be in good standing; refresher if inactive for 5+ years may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to women during labor, delivery, immediate recovery, and postpartum periods.
• Assess, monitor, and document maternal and fetal status throughout labor.
• Recognize and respond to changes in maternal and fetal conditions, escalating to providers as needed.
• Assist providers during vaginal and cesarean deliveries and stabilize mother and newborn after birth.
• Monitor mothers during the recovery period for hemorrhage, infection, pain management, and vital signs.
• Serve as a patient advocate to ensure a safe, positive birth experience.

• Unit Info: This unit opened in March of 2024, it's a low risk level I, 12 bed unit. Patients labor, deliver & recover in the same room. This team consists of RN's, Surg Techs, Lactation Consultants, and a dedicated OB Anesthesiologist as well as a 24/7 neonatal NP and respiratory.
• Requirements: Previous L&D experience is required for this position.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
• Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
• Licensure/certification/registration: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
