Job summary
Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse-Labor-Delivery-Postpartum for full-time night shifts. The RN will provide evidence-based nursing care in Labor-Delivery-Postpartum, following standards of care, safety protocols, and collaboration with the care team.
The role emphasizes patient education, discharge planning, and quality outcomes within NM’s maternity services. The position requires a BSN, active Illinois RN license, and BLS certification.
Qualifications
- BSN degree required and active Illinois RN license.
- BLS certification required.
- ADN with commitment to obtain BSN within three years acceptable.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition and intervenes according to hospital and unit guidelines.
- Develop and update nursing care plans with interdisciplinary input.
- Coordinate with physicians and healthcare team for patient care and discharge planning.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and educate patient/family.
- Document patient status, progress, and response to interventions.
- Perform ongoing re-assessments and adjust care as patient condition changes.
- Ensure standards of care and OSHA guidelines are followed.
- Engage patient and family in care planning and decision making.
