Job summary

HCA Healthcare’s St. David’s Medical Center in Austin seeks a Labor & Delivery/Post Partum Float Pool Registered Nurse to assess patients, develop and implement care plans, and evaluate outcomes in a high-acuity maternity setting.

The role requires collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, administering medications, educating patients and families, and coordinating discharge planning. A BSN is preferred; state RN license and BLS/ACLS/NIHSS are required or pending.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience as an RN.
  • BSN preferred but ADN acceptable.
  • Current RN license in the state of practice or active compact license.
  • BLS, NIHSS, and ACLS certifications required or as noted.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and revise the plan of care and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Consult and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to meet patient needs and goals.
  • Administer medications and complete treatments according to hospital policy.
  • Delegate work to non-licensed staff in accordance with standards of practice.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative patient care.
  • Provide education materials to patients and families on care and treatments.
  • Facilitate discharge plans in collaboration with the care team.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Labor and Delivery/Post Partum Float Pool Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for performing patient assessments, developing a plan of care, and implementing and evaluating care. As a member of the interdisciplinary care team, you will work collaboratively with the other members to ensure the safe and accurate delivery of care.

  • You will formulate a plan of care, revise the plan based on the patient’s response to treatment and regularly evaluate plan for effectiveness

  • You will consult and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop, evaluate and revise the plan of care to meet the patient’s needs and goals

  • You will administer medications and complete treatments according to hospital policy

  • You will delegate work appropriately to non-licensed staff in accordance with standards of practice

  • You will provide pre- and post-operative patient care

  • You will provide education materials to patients and families on care and treatments

  • You will facilitate discharge plans in collaboration with the care team

Requirements
Experience
  • 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - Preferred

  • Associates Degree in Nursing

License and Certifications
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. FT/PT/PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must:

  • Apply for Texas RN license within 60 days from hire

  • **Obtain current TX RN license within 6 months of application for TX RN license**

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required as per St. David’s Healthcare policy

  • NIHSS certification – required within 30 days of hire

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification – required within 6 months of hire
