Corewell Health’s Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids seeks a dedicated RN for Labor and Delivery. The role emphasizes safe, compassionate care in a high-volume environment with 8,000 births annually.

The unit includes 28 private birthing suites, 11-bed triage, 3 OR suites, and multiple recovery bays. Night shifts run 7:00pm–7:30am with 36 hours weekly and variable days, offering comprehensive benefits and career growth.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing required.
• Bachelor's in Nursing required within 5 years.
• MI Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) required.
• AHA/ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 90 days.
• Fetal Heart Monitoring Certification required within 1.5 years.
• 1–2+ years of acute care RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers nursing care in alignment with ANA standards and Michigan law.
• Demonstrates the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation.
• Upholds professional standards including ethical, culturally congruent practice and collaboration.

About The Unit

Our Labor and Delivery is located a Butterworth hospital. We deliver the most babies of any hospital in Michigan with an average of 8,000 births a year. The unit consists of 28 private birthing suites, 11-bed triage, 3 OR suites, and 5 recovery bays. Our staff consist of RN, Anesthesia RNs, Nurse Techs, OB Techs and Unit Secretaries.

Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
