Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse for Labor and Delivery and postpartum care. This role covers night shifts at Evanston and Highland Park Hospitals, with per diem level staffing and varied hours per 6-week schedule.

The ideal candidate holds IL RN licensure, is NLN-accredited, and has ISCU or L&D/postpartum experience. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP.

Qualifications

• Current IL nursing license required.
• BSN preferred, NLN accreditation valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective nursing care for labor, delivery, and postpartum patients.
• Apply nursing process to planning and evaluating care.
• Supervise assigned unlicensed personnel in delivering patient care.
• Collaborate with health care team to ensure optimal outcomes and continuity of care.
• Contribute to safety and high-quality patient experience.

Hourly Pay Range:

$36.00 - $55.80 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery - Postpartum - ISCU - Resource Team - Night Shift

Position Highlights:

• Position: Per Diem, Registered Nurse for Labor and Delivery and postpartum
• Location: Evanston and Highland Park Hospitals
• Per Diem
• Hours: Night shift 2300-0730 and 1900-0730; weekend and holiday requirements per level agreement
• Per Diem Commitment Level: Per Diem Level 1: 32-72 hrs. or Per Diem Level 2: 73-110 hrs. or Per Diem Level 3: 111-144 hrs./ per 6-week schedule

• Required Travel: Evanston and Highland Hospital

What you will do:

• Independently provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care for labor and delivery and postpartum patients
• Utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care
• Guide and direct assigned unlicensed assistive personnel in delivering interdisciplinary patient care
• Communicate and collaborate with members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care
• Positively contributing to safety outcomes and promoting high quality patient experience

What you will need:

• License: Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required
• Education: Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing required; BSN strongly preferred
• Certification: BLS/ ACLS/PALS / NRP Certification for the Healthcare Provider required. (AHA)
• Experience: A minimum two years of recent acute care clinical experience in Labor and Delivery and Postpartum and/ or ISCU experience required
• Unique or Preferred Skills: Labor and Delivery and postpartum and /or ISCU experience required
