Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Sioux City, IA is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Labor and Delivery unit to join an interdisciplinary team. You will provide nursing care 7PM-7AM, 0.9 FTE, and participate in rotating holidays and every third weekend.

You will assess patient needs, develop plans, educate families, and document care in line with ANA standards and unit policies. Requires Iowa RN license and BLS/ACLS/NRP certifications.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited nursing program.
• Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
• Must possess and maintain BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications or obtain within six months from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the needs of patients and families, providing teaching and referrals for continuity of care.
• Develops an individual plan of care with patient/family and health care team.
• Completes documentation promptly to ensure an accurate legal record of care.
• Delivers high quality care using the nursing process as per unit policies and standards of care.
• Uses a holistic approach appropriate to patient and family age, culture, and readiness to learn.
• Delegates and provides direction to other providers and holds them accountable for the plan of care.
• Maintains safety and ongoing professional development through networking and research.

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, contributes professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients and their families. Responsibilities

• Assesses the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate teaching and making the necessary referrals to provide continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of accredited nursing program
• License/Certifications: Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to hire. Must obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification or obtain certification within six (6) months from date of hire. Completion of one hour of stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually.
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Microsoft Office – basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused. Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
