Dignity Health - French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver compassionate, high-quality care in Labor & Delivery and related departments. You will perform assessments, develop patient-centered plans, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.

Required are CA RN license, BLS at hire, and ACLS/NRP within 90 days; 1+ year L&D or acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments and document findings.
  • Develop and update individualized care plans with patient and family.
  • Implement care/interventions and re-evaluate effectiveness.
  • Monitor patient and family response, adjusting plans as needed.
  • Educate patients on discharge needs and follow-up requirements.

  • Assessment: Performs appropriate history and physical assessment upon admission and on an ongoing basis, per facility policy.
  • Planning: In conjunction with the patient and family, develops individualized patient plan of care based on nursing diagnosis. Identifies short and long term goals including discharge planning consistent with individualized patient care.
  • Implementation: Evaluates and documents the patient/family response to nursing interventions related to the stated goals and the overall effectiveness of the care plan. Revises plan of care based on evaluation and individualized patient care needs.
  • Evaluation: Evaluates and documents the patient and family response to nursing interventions related to the stated goals and the overall effectiveness of the care plan. Revises plan of care based on evaluation and individualized patient care needs.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to identify and meet educational and discharge needs of the patients.
  • Identifies changes in patient’s condition and intervenes appropriately
Job Requirements

Required

  • Labor and Delivery: Registered Nurse with (1) year of Labor and Delivery experience and
  • Registered Nurses with (1) year of acute care work experience will be considered on an individual basis. and
  • Postpartum: Registered Nurse Graduate with 6 months to one (1) year of work experience. and
  • New graduates without acute care experience will be considered on an individual basis and
  • Labor and Delivery: (1) year L&D experience or more, intermediate fetal monitoring upon hire. and
  • With less than (1) year or no L&D experience, basic fetal monitoring within the orientation process
  • Registered Nurse: CA, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 90 Days and
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, within 90 Days
