Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is seeking an RN for Interventional Radiology (Open) to deliver nursing care and coordinate patient management across age groups during procedures with focus on safety and outcomes.

You will perform pre and post examinations, respond to emergencies, and collaborate with radiology and nursing teams to implement age-specific care plans. Requires Virginia RN licensure; BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of professional nursing. BSN preferred.
• Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• AHA ACLS, PALS, and AHA BLS‑HCP required.
• Experience: none required.
• Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care to patients in the Interventional Radiology and Neurointerventional Radiology department, assess patient condition and take immediate action in emergency situations.
• Assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum patient outcomes.
• Complete focused assessments of patients undergoing procedures and/or sedation of all ages in a timely manner.
• Respond to patient care needs before, during, and after procedures, including assessment of condition, cardiac arrest, and intravenous problems.
• Perform pre‑examination and post‑examination assessments for angiography, CT scan and other special procedures.
• Collaborate with members of the health care team, patient and family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age‑specific interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Follow established standards and practice under the direction of a credentialed radiologist, credentialed invasive cardiologist or credentialed intravascular surgeon.
• Administer treatments and medications for patients of all ages and document using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
• Identify patient/family educational needs in a timely manner and incorporate them into the plan of care.
• Plan strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, resource consumption and improve patient outcomes.
• Organize and prioritize tasks, demonstrate flexibility with scheduling and prioritize competing needs.
• Complete manager/director predetermined projects within specified time frame.
• Orient new employees as needed, provide feedback to staff, and assist with education activities for unit/department.
