RN - Interventional Radiology (Open)

Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care to patients in the Interventional Radiology and Neurointerventional Radiology department, assess patient condition and take immediate action in emergency situations.
- Assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum patient outcomes.
- Complete focused assessments of patients undergoing procedures and/or sedation of all ages in a timely manner.
- Respond to patient care needs before, during, and after procedures, including assessment of condition, cardiac arrest, and intravenous problems.
- Perform pre‑examination and post‑examination assessments for angiography, CT scan and other special procedures.
- Collaborate with members of the health care team, patient and family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age‑specific interdisciplinary plan of care.
- Follow established standards and practice under the direction of a credentialed radiologist, credentialed invasive cardiologist or credentialed intravascular surgeon.
- Administer treatments and medications for patients of all ages and document using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
- Identify patient/family educational needs in a timely manner and incorporate them into the plan of care.
- Plan strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, resource consumption and improve patient outcomes.
- Organize and prioritize tasks, demonstrate flexibility with scheduling and prioritize competing needs.
- Complete manager/director predetermined projects within specified time frame.
- Orient new employees as needed, provide feedback to staff, and assist with education activities for unit/department.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing. BSN preferred.
- Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- AHA ACLS, PALS, and AHA BLS‑HCP required.
- Experience: none required.
- Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
Compensation
Compensation Range: $36.87 - $55.31 per hour. Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
