Responsibilities

• Delivers high quality, compassionate medical care applying evidence-based medicine to the highest degree possible.
• Examines patients using various medical equipment, instruments and tests.
• Orders or performs various tests, analyses and imaging to provide information on patients' condition.
• Diagnoses patients' condition based on results of examinations, tests and reports.
• Prescribes and administers drugs, treatments and vaccinations.
• May perform perinatal care to pregnant women and deliver babies; may perform surgeries and related invasive procedures.
• Works closely with case management, nursing, and the medical staff to assure an appropriate plan of care and ongoing care coordination.
• Actively supports Joint Commission readiness and compliance.
• Supports performance improvement with hospital management and staff; standardizes equipment and supplies; manages resources.
• Completes required documentation timely; reports births, deaths, and contagious diseases as required.
• Conducts, collaborates on basic and clinical research; may develop and test new medical techniques.
• Supervises medical treatment of patients; may supervise physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and others; participates in teaching and mentoring.
• Upholds the value that patient needs come first; demonstrates respect, responsibility and teamwork; maintains integrity and ethical conduct.
• Maintains and enhances professional competency and the highest standards of expertise and conduct.
