Job summary

Duly Health and Care in Illinois seeks a Procedure Suite Nurse to support Interventional Radiology, Cardiology, Vascular Surgery, and Pain Management workflows in the OB Lab. You will work under physicians, ensuring patient safety and smooth operations.

Qualifications

  • Nursing degree from an accredited program and IL license.
  • Experience in Interventional Radiology, Interventional Cardiology, or Vascular Surgery.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications preferred; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attend/assist patient consultations under guidance of Interventional Radiologist.
  • Serve as first point of contact for referrals and patients.
  • Perform pre/intra/post procedure patient evaluation and documentation.
  • Assist in procedures and support room turnover with the IR/Cardiology team.
  • Maintain sterile technique and assist with equipment setup and cleaning.
  • Escort patients and read vital signs; ensure charts and results are complete.

SUMMARY

The role of a procedure suite nurse in an interventional environment is unique and essential to the care of the patient and smooth operation of the office-based lab (OBL) environment. He/She demonstrates that unique and essential function through the framework of C.A.R.E values-compassion, accountability, respect and excellence-with patients, their family members, referring clinicians and the clinical and clerical teams. The Procedure Suite Nurse is a role that supports Interventional Radiology, Cardiology, Vascular Surgery, and Pain Management workflows within the Procedure Suite.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attending/assisting in patient consultations under the guidance of the Interventional Radiologist.
  • Act as the first point of contact for referrals and patients.
  • Performing pre, intra, and post procedure patient evaluation, assessment and documentation.
  • Make recommendations to the referring physician, patient, and patient’s family under the guidance of the Interventional Radiologist, Interventional Cardiologist, Vascular Surgeon, or Pain Management physician.
  • Serve as a liaison between the patient, nursing staff, radiology staff, ancillary departments and referring physician.
  • Perform daily duties and communicate patient progress to the medical staff.
  • Orchestrate patient discharge and pharmacy calls; may assist by calling to set up appointments or arrange hospital tests or admissions.
  • Completes paperwork including orders: Laboratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, etc.
  • Uses a team approach to develop and achieve daily, patient-centered individualized care goals.
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms and readies them for procedure; takes vital signs, records medical history/symptoms, ensures medical chart/lab test results are available and complete.
  • Assists Interventional Radiology team with procedures and assists team with cleaning and turnover of the rooms.
  • Stocks procedure and patient examination rooms; cleans and arrange sterilization of instruments for procedures; assists with inventory of medical supplies.
  • Assist in maintaining crash cart.
  • Checks and restocks medication as necessary.
  • Reports all test results to the patient as directed by the Interventionalist.
  • Performs OSHA controls as required.
  • Assists in tracking controlled substances in the department.
  • Must be able to get along with others, be a team player, accept constructive criticism from your supervisor and be able to follow work rules.
  • Serves as a mentor for team members and as a preceptor for new team members.
  • Identifies opportunities for innovation and quality improvement; participates in innovation projects and the quality improvement process.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory.
  • Organizational skills are essential to prioritize daily work.

  • Basic EKG interpretation.
  • Excellent IV skills.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining sterile technique/environment.
  • Administer conscious sedation under direct supervision of Interventionalist.
  • Analytic ability (conceptual and quantitative).
  • Oral, listening and written communication skills.
  • Strong human relation skills to interact effectively and collaborate with others in difficult situations.
  • Use of computer systems to enter retrieve data.
EDUCATION and / or CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
  • Licensed to practice nursing in Illinois.
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation recognition (BLS).
  • ACLS certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE
  • At least 1 year nursing experience in the following areas: Procedure care, Interventional Radiology, Interventional Cardiology, or Vascular Surgery.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of 30.25 - 37.81 - 45.38 USD hourly with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
