Job summary

Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System in Illinois is seeking an RN for Interventional Cath, EP Lab, and pre/post‑procedure holding areas. You will oversee patient preparation, support procedures, and recovery for diagnostic and interventional cardiac/EP cases.

This full‑time role requires ADN, Illinois RN license, and certifications; you will provide clinical leadership and ensure safe, high‑quality care with effective patient flow.

Qualifications

  • ADN is required.
  • ACLS within 90 days of hire.
  • BLS or CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Registered Nurse license with Illinois DBPR is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment – Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient's health or the situation. Recognizes normal and abnormal findings when gathering data.
  • Collaboration – Works with the attending physician, cardiologist, and radiologist to provide necessary radiology and cardiology procedures.
  • Coordination of Care – Plans and evaluates care in collaboration with appropriate disciplines for assigned patients.
  • Clinical Competence – Demonstrates clinical competence when providing patient care.
  • Care Plan Development – Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized plans of care.
  • Diagnosis – Analyzes assessment data to determine actual or potential diagnosis, problems, and issues.
  • Leadership – Directs and guides other healthcare workers and assumes accountability for performance of nursing activities delegated to other workers.
  • Communication – Establishes and maintains communication with patients, families, significant others, and health teams and promotes participation with regard to the plan of care.
  • Evaluation – Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes. Reports data and outcomes to appropriate physician and/or other disciplines.
  • Implementation – Implements care and supervises care delivered by other team members in alignment with the plan of care and approved safety and infection control standards.
  • Knowledge Development – Actively pursues required knowledge and skills through orientation activities and unit based programs.
  • Decision Making – Makes decisions for care using the nursing process and standards of practice.
  • Environment Management – Manages an environment that promotes patient dignity and safety.
  • Outcomes Identification – Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient.
  • Education – Participates in education of staff.
  • Evaluation of Care Delivery – Participates in evaluation of the patient care delivery system.
  • Research Participation – Participates in research conducted at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System.

  • Ethics – Practices within ethical and legal nursing standards.
  • Patient Preparation – Prepares patient for diagnostic and interventional procedures and administers contrast as needed.

Job description

RN Interventional Cath – Overview

Provides specialized cardiovascular nursing care across the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, and pre/post‑procedure holding areas. Manages patient preparation, procedural support, and recovery for diagnostic and interventional cardiac and EP procedures while ensuring safe, efficient patient flow and high‑quality clinical care. Registered Nurses are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized patient care delivery and providing clinical leadership for the assigned shift.

Working Hours

Full‑time, 40 hours per week.

  • Education – Participates in education of staff.
  • Evaluation of Care Delivery – Participates in evaluation of the patient care delivery system.
  • Research Participation – Participates in research conducted at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System.
  • Planning – Develops a plan that prescribes strategies to attain expected, measurable outcomes.
  • Ethics – Practices within the ethical and legal framework of nursing, fostering high standards of nursing practice, and constructs a course of action when confronted with ethical dilemmas.
  • Patient Preparation – Prepares patient for diagnostic and interventional procedures. Administers intravenous imaging contrast under the direction of the radiologists as needed.
  • Relationships – Establishes effective working relationships with peers, physicians, and other members of the health care team. Identifies and confers with appropriate resources regarding patient care decisions.
  • Assistance Seeking – Seeks assistance when the situation encountered is beyond the nurse’s knowledge and experience.
  • Patient Advocacy – Serves as a patient advocate.
  • Teaching – Employs teaching strategies to promote health and a safe environment.

Compensation

Estimated compensation range: $37.23 – $57.71 per hour, based on experience.
