Job summary

AdventHealth in Glendale Heights, IL seeks a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care in invasive cardiology settings. You will assess patients, develop and execute care plans with the interdisciplinary team, and ensure safety and quality outcomes.

Responsibilities include delivering education to patients and families, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting efficient patient flow across procedures. Requires RN, BLS, ACLS with strong adaptive skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • 1+ year nursing experience in a relevant specialty is required
  • RN license and BLS/ACLS certifications are required or in progress

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients’ physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate competency in therapeutic and diagnostic interventions (IVs, wound care, catheterization, specimen collection).
  • Advocate for patients’ health, safety, and rights.
  • Educate patients and families and evaluate teaching effectiveness.

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Assess patients’ physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, and review of medical records and clinical data.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, observing outcomes in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Demonstrate competency in therapeutic and diagnostic interventions, including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection.
  • Advocate for and protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient.
  • Provide patient and family education based on assessment of learning readiness, needs, and ability, and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching.
  • Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient’s preferences, values, and needs.
  • Deliver relationship‑based care, engaging patients in all aspects of care with respect for cultural differences and diversity.
  • Delegate tasks to non‑RN personnel in accordance with state board of nursing and hospital policy; maintain thorough patient charts and records and document ongoing status, interventions, patient response and outcomes in an accurate, timely manner.
  • Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs; use standards of care, hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Adheres to basic radiation safety concepts to minimize exposure levels for patients and staff
  • Capable of learning and becoming independent in various roles such as scrub, record, and circulate positions for diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular cases
  • Experience in operating equipment across various invasive cardiology labs
  • Assists in efficient patient flow through invasive cardiology areas
  • Participates in training new employees after achieving independence in each position
  • Documents and reports all procedures accurately and legibly in accordance with department policies
  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
  • Competency in moderate sedation
  • Recent acute care experience and EKG competency
  • Knowledge of critical care medication
  • Excellent assessment skills
  • Knowledge of medications administered pre‑, intra‑, and post‑procedure
  • Ability to multitask effectively and manage time efficiently during patient preparation and discharge processes
  • Critical care skills
  • Proficient in charting and recording
Education & Experience
  • Associate’s of Nursing (required)
  • Bachelor’s of Nursing (preferred)
  • 1+ year experience in nursing with relevant specialty knowledge (required)
Licenses & Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) – required
  • Basic Life Support – CPR (BLS) – required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) – preferred
