Job summary

Allina Health is a not-for-profit health system serving Minnesota and western Wisconsin. We seek a Registered Nurse to deliver comprehensive care across anesthesia-related settings, coordinating with patients and families to ensure safety and comfort through 8- or 12-hour day/evening/night shifts.

The role requires an RN with an associate degree, 2+ years in nursing, and critical care/perianesthesia experience including ventilator and hemodynamic care. Licensure in MN or WI is required upon hire.

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required; RN licensed in MN or WI.
  • 2+ years of nursing experience; critical care and perianesthesia experience preferred.
  • Ability to care for patients on ventilators and with hemodynamic instability.

Job Description

Nursing is the assessment and treatment of human response to actual or potential health problems. This includes establishing an intentional therapeutic relationship between a registered nurse and a patient and family. As a leader and the integrator of care, the professional nurse has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for planning, coordinating and evaluating the patient’s care needs. Works with patients that are undergoing or recovering from anesthesia or sedation monitoring closely for complications and ensuring the optimal safety and comfort of patients under anesthesia at multiple sites.

Principle Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on needs assessment; establishing the plan of care; supervising the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed.
  • Maintain education and competencies to remain proficient to provide high quality patient care practice and skills.
  • Incorporate evidence-based nursing practice taking into consideration current statutes, rules and regulations when developing the plan of care.
  • Establish, in the collaboration with the family and patient, realistic and measurable patient expected outcomes based on nursing diagnoses, patients present and potential capabilities, goals, available resources and plan for continuity of care.
  • Identify outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
  • Coordinates, collaborates, and delegates appropriately to ensure care is provided in a safe, effective fashion.
  • Fulfill all organizational requirements.
Supplemental Roles
  • Charge Nurse (only when acting in this role). Demonstrates ability to coordinate, delegate, and direct unit operation, collaborates effectively with unit staff, leadership and other disciplines.
  • Preceptor (only when acting in this role). Demonstrates ability to identify the orientee's learning needs, plans appropriate learning experiences and demonstrates ability to validate clinical competence of orientee.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing 2+ years (within one year) Critical Care RN experience 1+ years Phase I and Phase II Perianesthesia experience including ability to care for patients on ventilators and patients with hemodynamic instability
  • Licenses/Certifications Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing If working in the state of MN required upon hire or Licensed Registered Nurse - WI Dept of Safety & Professional Services If working in the state of WI required upon hire Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below:
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing 1+ years Travel Nurse experience
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross
  • Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)
  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) is required within 180 days of hire
  • CPAN American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification preferred
  • CAPA American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification preferred
Physical Demands

Medium Work*: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Flat Rate: $65.00 per hour *This position is paid on a standard non-negotiable hourly rate. Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work. Allina Health is committed to adhering with all applicable local, state and federal minimum wage requirements.
