Job summary

UW Health in Madison, WI, is seeking a Registered Nurse to join a 23-bed cardiac/telemetry unit. The role supports a high-acuity cardiology service with a focus on patient education and teamwork.

You will work 90% FTE on an evening/night rotation (7:00 pm–7:30 am) with a two-in-six weekend schedule and holiday rotation, at University Hospital in Madison. The environment emphasizes shared governance and ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Six months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit.

Responsibilities

  • Care for patients on a 23-bed cardiac/telemetry unit, including intermediate and general cardiology patients.
  • Manage titratable vasoactive drips and collaborate with the Cardiac Cath Lab for peri-procedural care.
  • Partner with advanced heart failure teams across the program and participate in the unit expansion to broader cardiac services.

Pay

Additional components of compensation include impressive shift differentials - $4/hour evening, $5/hour night and $4.25/hour weekend differential as applicable for hours worked.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to:
  • Practice at University Hospital in Madison, ranked among the nation’s top heart hospitals, and be part of a high-performing cardiac team delivering exceptional outcomes.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced 23-bed cardiac/telemetry unit caring for intermediate and general cardiology patients, supported by central monitors throughout the unit and strong interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Provide expert care for patients with coronary artery disease, heart failure, and dysrhythmias, including management of titratable vasoactive drips.
  • Partner closely with the Cardiac Cath Lab for pre- and post-procedure care, and collaborate with advanced heart failure teams managing pre-transplant and LVAD patients within a growing, innovative program.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
Work Experience
  • Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit. Required
  • Relevant RN Experience Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS within 6 months Required
  • Relevant RN Experience Preferred
