Description:The position involves working as a Registered Nurse in an outpatient clinic infusion setting.The RN will have a daily average patient census of 46, with approximately 35 visits per day.The unit consists of 2 rooms and 16 beds.The patient ratios during the day are 1 nurse to 8 patients.The RN will manage patients with various diagnoses, including general oncology/hematology and non-oncology conditions requiring infusions or injections.These conditions may include Alzheimer's, chronic kidney disease, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, iron deficiency anemia, dehydration, and infections requiring IV antibiotics.The role also includes performing infusions and injections, including IM and IV routes.Other responsibilities involve accessing port-a-catheters and PICC lines, transfusing blood and platelets, and utilizing special equipment such as phlebotomy machines, blood warmers, and cold capping machines.The RN must demonstrate proficiency in aseptic technique, administration of medications, and patient education.The RN will also be responsible for obtaining vital signs, performing lab result interpretation, and medication reconciliation.The position does not require floating to other units or facilities.All RNs must adhere to universal precautions and biohazard waste disposal practices.This position requires a commitment to patient care and teamwork within the healthcare environment.
