Job summary

SoftPath Medical seeks an Infusion Nurse to deliver outpatient chemotherapy and infusion therapies for adults in a hospital hematology/oncology setting. The role supports a busy unit with 60–110 patient visits per day and 2–3 chairs per nurse, within a dedicated infusion center attached to the clinic.

You will handle administer chemotherapy, venous access, and IV infusions, leveraging Epic EMR for documentation, while adhering to BLS and ONS guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience administering chemotherapy.
• BSL certification from the American Heart Association required.
• ONS chemotherapy provider card required.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records system required.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient infusion services to adult hematology/oncology patients.

Infusion Nurse Position

Shift Details

• Contract guaranteed hours: 72 hours biweekly on all assignments – guaranteed hours exclude any on-call time worked.
• 10-hour day shifts, 4 days per week.
• Every third Saturday is required.
• Requests for return to office (RTO) not submitted at the time of application will not be approved.

Location

• Infusion room within a hospital medical center.
• 25 infusion chairs in a single unit.
• Ambulatory infusion center located within a hospital setting.

Patient Population and Workload

• Providing outpatient infusion services to adult patients with hematologic, oncologic, or medical diagnoses.
• Patient volume ranges from 60 to 110 patients per day, depending on treatment length.
• Each nurse is assigned 2-3 infusion chairs per shift.
• Nursing ratios are estimates and may vary based on department and facility demands.
• The infusion room is attached to the hematology/oncology clinic, with advanced practice provider coverage available.

Experience and Certification Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years experience administering chemotherapy required.
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) chemotherapy provider card required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Prior travel experience preferred.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records system required.

Clinical Skills and Procedures

• Experience accessing and deaccessing implantable venous access devices (IVADs).
• Experience with peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC lines).
• Proficiency in starting peripheral intravenous lines.
• Use of Alaris infusion pumps and CADD pumps for home infusion therapy.
• Administration of chemotherapy, medical infusions, and blood transfusions.
• Phlebotomy skills.
• Adherence to unit-specific procedures and protocols.

Orientation and Additional Information

• Orientation lasts one week.
• Required forms, learning modules, and competencies will be assigned prior to arrival.
• Floating to other nearby locations may occur based on staffing needs, with floating assignments determined by the date of last float; floating is rare but possible.
• Scrub color is flexible.
• Candidates must have been separated from the hospital system for at least six months and be in good standing to be considered.
