Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Hospital – College Station is seeking a Registered Nurse for the IMCU/Telemetry Unit. This 40-bed unit provides care for adult patients requiring an increased level of monitoring and nursing care, including cardiac and stroke cases.

You will monitor patients, collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team, and deliver comprehensive, compassionate nursing care. The position is full-time, night shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) with a self-scheduling option.

Qualifications

  • Grad of an Accredited Nursing Program.
  • RN license is required to practice in Texas.
  • BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of starting.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and create, implement, and evaluate care plans.
  • Educate patients and families, and document learning needs.
  • Delegate tasks based on patient condition and team competencies.
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to adjust care.

  • Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
  • Schedule: Self-scheduling

The Intermediate Care/Telemetry Unit (IMCU) at Baylor Scott & White Hospital – College Station is a 40-bed unit providing care to adult patients requiring an increased level of monitoring and nursing care.

Our patient population includes adult cardiac, stroke, and multi-organ dysfunction patients. Nurses provide comprehensive care while closely monitoring patients for changes in condition and collaborating with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.

This position is ideal for an RN who enjoys caring for complex adult patients, utilizing strong clinical judgment, and working collaboratively in a team-focused environment.

Baylor Scott & White Hospital – College Station is a private, 143-bed, multi-specialty hospital. The Medical Center is a certified advanced primary stroke center, a certified chest pain center, as well as a Level III Trauma Center. Additionally, we have achieved the American Nurse Credentialing Center Magnet Designation.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

Essential Functions Of The Role
  • As an RN, conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Building relationships, managing discomfort, staying professional are vital in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Creating care plans reflecting values aids in resolving issues.
  • You will help educate patients, families, nurses, and community members. Empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • You'll use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth. Contribute to peers' development, show community service commitment.
Key Success Factors
  • A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Know nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area. Understand hospital procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
