Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks an RN II to provide professional nursing care to a diverse patient population, perform nursing assessments, assist with exams and treatment, educate patients, and maintain medical records.

The RN II collaborates with physicians and the interprofessional team to deliver compassionate, high-quality care and achieve desired outcomes, while demonstrating clinical competence in care, medications, procedures and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Twelve months registered nurse experience in a healthcare environment.
• BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) must be obtained.
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Instructor (AHA) within 4 months.
• RN Texas State Licensure – must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days (if establishing Texas residency).
• Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s).
• Preferred Magnet - ANCC Recognized Certification; PALS if pediatric care within 4 months.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments, assist with exams and treatment, and maintain medical records.
• Provide patient education and advocate for patient rights.
• Collaborate with physicians and interprofessional team to coordinate care and achieve treatment outcomes.
• May assume leadership roles such as charge nurse or preceptor and contribute to unit or hospital initiatives.
