Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking an RN II to provide professional nursing care, perform assessments, assist with exams and treatments, educate patients, and maintain medical records for a diverse patient population.

The role requires collaboration with physicians and the health care team, leadership as charge nurse or preceptor, and adherence to patient rights and safety while handling emergencies. NICU/Normal newborn transition experience highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an approved nursing education program.
• Twelve months RN experience in a healthcare setting.
• Texas RN license with BLS; NRP within 4 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and provide direct patient care.
• Coordinate with physicians and interprofessional team for treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families and maintain accurate medical records.
• Lead unit initiatives; serve as charge nurse or preceptor.
• Demonstrate clinical competence in medications, procedures and emergencies.
