Job summary

Adventist Health Sierra Vista in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a registered nurse for the Step Down Unit to provide and oversee specialized cardiac care. You will interpret ECG rhythms and respond in emergencies, while guiding ancillary staff and coordinating patient education with families.

The role requires an RN license, BLS/ACLS, NIHSS within 6 months, and cardiology experience; BLS and ACLS certifications are required. A daily 12-hour shift supports patient care in a Level III unit.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s in Nursing preferred.
• Basic Dysrhythmia Course preferred.
• Critical Care Course preferred.
• 6 months of cardiac step-down or telemetry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interprets ECG rhythm and manages care during life-threatening emergencies.
• Delegates care tasks to ancillary personnel and develops a goal-oriented care plan.
• Documents education provided to patients and families.
• Performs nursing interventions including medications, IV therapy, catheters, and equipment in the CCU.
• Completes accurate nursing documentation and safety/quality checks.
