Job Description

Highpoint Health with Ascension Saint Thomas has an opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Intensive Care team.

Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable standards of practice.

Monitors and notes patient condition, keeping physicians informed.

Performs interventions including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.

Documents patient care and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.

Assists patients with activities of daily living and collaborates across disciplines for comprehensive care.

Provides education to patients and families tailored to their needs.

Works as an advocate for patient well-being and performs other duties as assigned.

May perform duties of CNA, MA, LPN, or other nursing staff occasionally.

Attends staff meetings, in-service trainings, and participates in committees.

Adheres to policies and supports the organization’s standards.

Works scheduled shifts, including overtime and call schedules, maintaining a professional appearance.

Reports to the ICU Director.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required.
• Critical thinking and decisive judgment skills required.
• Ability to work under stress and minimal supervision.
• AHA BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS certifications within 6 months of hire.
• TN RN Licensure or compact license with filing required within 30 days.
