Job summary

Cynet HealthStaff is seeking an RN for ICU coverage on a 13-week assignment. Night shifts are 12 hours, with a 12-hour shift structure in a unit housing CCU/PCU patients.

The unit manages sepsis, respiratory issues, overdoses, alcohol withdrawal, and DKA, with a 1:2 and 1:3-4 nurse-to-patient ratio depending on sub-unit. Nurses titrate drips (Levophed, insulin, dopamine, heparin) and read telemetry; a charge nurse and house supervisor support nights and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years ICU RN experience.
  • ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications required.
  • Must be able to titrate drips (Levophed, insulin, dopamine, heparin).

Responsibilities

  • Titrate drips including Levophed, insulin, dopamine, and heparin.
  • Read telemetry strips and monitor invasive lines in ICU setting.
  • Provide care for CCU/PCU patients with sepsis, respiratory distress, overdose, withdrawal, DKA.
  • Self-scheduling with a 6-week cycle; weekend and major/minor holiday coverage; possible unit-wide float.

Description:Unit has a total of 12 beds, combined CCU and PCU. Ratios are 1:2 for CCU and 1:3-4 for PCU. Common diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory distress, overdose, alcohol withdrawal, and DKA. Nurses are required to titrate drips including Levophed, insulin, dopamine, and heparin. A charge nurse is present each shift along with a house supervisor for nights and weekends. Nurse aides are available on the unit. Respiratory equipment includes vents, CPAP, Bipap, and oximizers. Telemetry is available, and RNs are responsible for reading strips. Self-scheduling is utilized with schedules released for a 6-week period. Weekend requirement includes 4 shifts within 6-week schedule. Holiday requirement includes 1 major and 1 minor during the contract period. Generally, staff is placed on call if needed, though there is no call outside of this. Floating to medical-surgical units may be necessary, with emergency room floating only for experienced staff. Scrub color required is navy blue. General facility orientation is provided for one day, followed by 1-2 days specific to the unit. The charting system in use is Cerner. This unit operates with a trauma level of 3 in an acute care setting.
