Summary of Job Duties:

Schedule: Full-time, 7A-7P or 7P-7A or alternate 12 hour shifts, must work three shifts during the week plus rotate weekends. Available shifts based on unit needs and to be discussed with unit hiring manager.

This requisition will be used to fill multiple positions.

Registered Nurse delivers nursing care for patients within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adheres to institutional policies, procedures and standards. The RN is responsible for adhering to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA, and Standards for the specialty patient population with support and mentoring by other team members. Collects and documents assessment data. Develops a Plan of Care (POC) per standard. Implements POC including medical orders and interdisciplinary approach. Evaluates the progress of the patient toward attainment of desired outcomes. Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning. Administers medication per standard including drug information to patients/families. Acts as a resource/supports others. Delivers patient care using the principles of the defined nursing modality. Delegates care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job description, and individual education and training level. Contributes to a positive work environment that is conducive to clinical education while serving as a resource for student nurses and staff.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelors in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing.
  • Valid RN License,
  • 1 year of Registered Nursing experience
  • Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethics and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous hospital med/surg experience
  • Certification a plus
  • 2 years or more nursing experience with current BLS.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients in Hospital Medicine Unit (H6). This area is a 30-bed medical/surgical patient care unit that provides 24-hour care to acutely ill patients as well as palliative care for specialty patients and hospice patients. H6 provides care to a wide variety of patients such as Liver Disease, End-Stage Renal Disease, Respiratory Conditions, Immune System Diseases, Gastro-Intestinal Disease, and Musculoskeletal/Integumentary Diseases. Remote telemetry is available for patients presenting with clinical cardiac concerns or with a history of cardiac disease. We also provide pre/postoperative care. The patient population ranges from young adult to geriatric.

Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning, and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment including N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR), or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
