Job summary

Beacon Behavioral Inpatient Hospital in Lutcher, LA seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for PRN inpatient coverage (7AM–7PM or 7PM–7AM). The RN will lead nursing care on a psychiatric inpatient unit, collaborating with staff to implement treatment plans and ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualified candidates hold RN licensure in the state, a nursing degree, at least 2 years’ nursing experience with the mentally ill, plus BLS and non-violent crisis intervention certifications.

Qualifications

• Must have RN licensure in the state of operation.
• Bachelor’s, associate degree or diploma in nursing with documented evidence of educational program focused on treating psychiatric patients.
• Must have at least 2 years of nursing experience, 1 year with mentally ill patients or supervised by a master’s prepared psychiatric nurse.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Certification in non-violent crisis intervention required.

Responsibilities

• Function as the Charge Nurse, supervising LPNs, CNAs, and Mental Health Technicians.
• Collaborate in development and implementation of treatment plans.
• Serve as the Medication Nurse as needed and support staff.
• Act as liaison between program staff and medical staff.
• Support budget and staffing guidelines and participate in performance improvement.

REGISTERED NURSE (RN) looking to join our Inpatient team in Lutcher. We are currently looking for PRN (7AM - 7PM) & (7PM - 7AM).

Beacon Behavioral Inpatient Hospital,one of the largest and most established behavioral health programs in Louisiana. For over 25 years, Beacon employs caring staff at locations across southeast Louisiana: Baton Rouge, Lacombe, Metairie, Slidell, Hammond, Bunkie, Opelousas, and Lutcher. We currently provide inpatient programs and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) that provide therapy to those struggling with emotional disorders, substance abuse, and mental disorders.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Function as the Charge Nurse, responsible for nursing care and supervision of LPNs, CNAs and Mental Health Technicians. RNs assure that care provided demonstrates the ANA standards for care and utilizes evidence-based practice.


• Collaborate in the development and implementation of the treatment program, including individual Plans of Care.


• Serve as the Medication Nurse as needed and assist LPNs and all staff as needed. Teamwork is essential in this role.


• Assist the DON as the liaison between the program staff and medical staff.


• Work within established budget and staffing guidelines.


• Participate in Performance Improvement by engaging in the plan, study, do act cycle of improvement.


• Serve as a role model to others of professionalism, positive attitude, and excellent patient care.


• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have Registered Nurse Licensure in the state of operation.


• Must have a Bachelor’s, associate degree or diploma in nursing with documented evidence of educational program focused on treating psychiatric patients.


• Must have at least 2 years of nursing experience, 1 year of which was providing nursing care to the mentally ill, OR receive regular documented supervision/consultation from a master’s prepared psychiatric nurse.


• Certification in Basic Life Support required.


• Certification in non-violent crisis intervention.
