Job summary

Care Options for Kids in Houston, TX seeks a seasoned registered nurse to supervise daily nursing and home health aides, coordinate clinical delivery, and ensure quality within the plan of care.

You will mentor staff, review medical histories and medications, and collaborate with the Director of Nursing to maintain EMR compliance and high-quality client care in a dynamic home-health setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily supervision of nurses and home health aides to ensure the quality of services is within the required plan of care.
• Initiates and reviews the clinical content, diagnoses, medical history, medications, and other statuses from client records.
• Appraises staff performance during probationary period and annually with the Director of Nursing; provides teaching and counseling to enhance delivery of services and professional development.
• Identifies and evaluates client needs and appropriateness of home care by reviewing the initial intake screening form before assignment of direct care staff.
• Assists with the orientation of new clinical staff to familiarize them with policies and procedures.
• Conducts client visits in the appropriate setting as needed.
• Initiates in-home supervisory visits of clinical staff as needed.
• Handles on-call after work hours.
• Maintains confidentiality of records within the scope of their position.
• Participates in required functions in the absence of, or request by, the Director of Nursing.
• Works with EMR to ensure client electronic charts are maintained and compliant with company standards.
• Understands clinical workflow as it pertains to EMR use.
• Participates in problem-solving processes to meet EMR education needs and outcomes for users.
• Provides trainer sessions for peers and field staff to expand training team expertise.
• Coaching support to new staff to ensure compliance and consistency with EMR.
• Conducts EMR chart audits.
• Prepares and submits a course of study including objectives and lesson plans for training in compliance with regulations.
• Plans, provides, and supervises training in classroom settings, informing students of best practices and laws for specialized nursing skills.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
