Job summary

UW Health in Madison, WI is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a 90% FTE evening/night shift on a 15-bed step down unit. The role includes care for vascular, cardiac and cardiology patients with complex needs, and a two-in-six weekend rotation plus holiday coverage.

Qualifications

  • Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit. Required
  • Relevant RN Experience Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Practice on a 15-bed step down unit servicing vascular, cardiac surgery, and cardiology adult patient populations with intermediate and general levels of care.
  • Care for patients with chest tubes, feeding tubes, PCA, insulin drips, vasoactive drips, heparin drips, and multiple drains.
  • Care for patients undergoing abdominal and thoracic aneurysm repairs, carotid endarterectomies, limb saving therapies, and vascular bypasses.
  • Participate in shared governance and lead quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide patient- and family-centered care with daily care team rounds and collaborative teamwork.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred

Pay

Additional components of compensation include impressive shift differentials - $4/hour evening, $5/hour night and $4.25/hour weekender differential as applicable for hours worked.

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to:

  • Practice on a 15-bed step down unit that services vascular, cardiac surgery, and cardiology adult patient populations with both intermediate and general levels of care with common interventions including chest tubes, feeding tubes, PCAs, insulin drips, vasoactive drips, heparin drips, and multiple drains.
  • Advance your nursing skills at a level 1 trauma center by caring for patients having abdominal and thoracic aneurysm repairs (both open and endovascular), carotid endarterectomies, limb saving lytic therapies, lower extremity bypasses and amputations.
  • Participate in shared governance, with a unit-based council to help support and drive quality improvement initiatives and lead practice change.
  • Work in a supportive environment that is patient-and-family focused including daily care team visits with the entire team.

Qualifications

Work Experience

Licenses & Certifications
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS within 6 months Required
  • Relevant certification Preferred
