Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital, part of the Cleveland Clinic Health System, seeks an RN for the Geriatric Psychiatric unit. You will deliver direct care to patients 55 and older, develop and update care plans, and coordinate with the team throughout the patient journey.

Experience in acute care and RN licensure are required; BSN preferred. A Magnet Hospital, the center emphasizes caregiver safety and patient education, with rotation day/evening shifts reflecting the unit's schedule.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program).
• Current state RN licensure.
• BLS Certification (AHA or Red Cross).
• ACLS Certification required for Critical Care area (AHA).
• One year of acute care RN experience or licensed military RN experience.

Lutheran Hospital's Geriatric Psych Unit specializes in the unique care mental health needs of patients ages 55 and older. This unit is dedicated to helping patients achieve healthier and more productive lives through evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of any disturbances of thought, feelings, mood, behavior, and any co-morbidities. As an RN on this team, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

A caregiver in this role works a day/evening rotation from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide direct nursing care.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• *If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of hire
• One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
