Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for its Geriatric Psychiatry Unit. You will deliver patient-centered care to adults 55+, develop and adapt care plans, and collaborate with the care team to support safe discharges and family education.

Requirements include Ohio RN licensure, a current BLS certificate, and 1+ year of acute care RN experience or licensed military RN experience; ACLS preferred. Relocation aid and loan repayment benefits may apply.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma/ADN/BSN).
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Ohio.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred/required per area.
  • Minimum one year of acute care RN experience or licensed military RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to geriatric patients on the unit.
  • Implement, monitor, and revise patient care plans as needed.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Carry out physician and nursing orders and coordinate discharges.
  • Educate patients and families about care and post-discharge needs.

Lutheran Hospital’s Geriatric Psych Unit specializes in the unique care mental health needs of patients ages 55 and older. This unit is dedicated to helping patients achieve healthier and more productive lives through evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of any disturbances of thought, feelings, mood, behavior, and any co-morbidities. As an RN on this team, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

A caregiver in this role works a day/evening rotation from 7:00 a.m. -- 7:30 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • *If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of hire
  • *One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
Pay Range
  • Minimum hourly: $35.50
  • Maximum hourly: $55.60
