Job summary

Firelands Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver patient care under physician supervision, performing assessments, planning, and education in a collaborative clinic setting in Sandusky.

You will administer injections, assist with examinations, document care in the medical record, educate patients and families for self-management, and coordinate referrals to Firelands resources. A ninety-day probationary period applies, with strong benefits and support for work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing and possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Ohio.
• Current nursing experience.
• Currently certified in BLS and maintain certification.
• Must be knowledgeable regarding the nursing process and its application, including the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Assess, educate, and plan care under physician direction.
• Perform nursing duties, history and physical, vital signs, injections, immunizations, assist physicians with examinations and procedures.
• Educate patient and caregiver for self-care related to disease and medication management.
• Document interventions and results in the medical record.
• Coordinate with providers and refer to Firelands resources as appropriate.
• Support development and expansion of clinic services.

Position Summary

• Under the general direction of the physician, the RN delivers care to patients through assessment, education, and planning, while maintaining standards of professional nursing utilizing evidence-based practice. The RN will effectively interact with patients and their significant others to promote health, maintenance, and management in collaboration with physicians and other staff throughout the Firelands Health organization and medical persons in care of the patient.
• Functions in the role of RN utilizing the nursing process. Applies nursing care as directed by physician and the clinic’s policy and procedure.
• Performs selected nursing duties, history and physical, vital signs, give injections and immunizations, assist physician(s) with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments and provide direct patient care as ordered.
• Educates the patient and caregiver(s) to encourage self-care as it relates to disease and medication management.
• Interpret medical testing and medication appropriately per our policy if applicable. Complete physical assessment and order labs when necessary and permitted by protocol.
• Documents all interventions, tests ordered and received, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed and related health information in the medical record
• Collect and relay pertinent information to corresponding provider, drawing attention to any critical values.
• Assist in the development and expansion of clinic services.
• Recommendations and referrals of other Firelands resources such as mental health, cardiac/pulmonary rehab, sleep lab, and financial aid.

What you will need:
