Description:

Starr Regional Medical Center is currently seeking talented individuals to fill the position of Registered Nurse – Float Pool in our MedSurg Department. This position is permanent, PRN.

Core competencies include, but are not limited to:

• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
• Establishes a care plan appropriate to identified problems, involving the patient according to their capabilities and desires.

• Performs interventions such as medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care procedures.

• Documents patient care provided.

• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families as appropriate.

• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and mobility.

• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial support.

• Evaluates learning needs of patients and families, providing education tailored to their age, culture, and condition.

• Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and addresses issues affecting outcomes.

• Performs specific duties such as entering orders, managing admissions/discharges, and coordinating transfers.

• Responds to complaints about patient care through established channels.

• Acts as an advocate for the patient's physical and emotional well-being.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education

• Associate’s degree in Nursing: Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing: Preferred

Required Licenses

• Registered Nurse license in Tennessee or another compact state.

Required Skills

• Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS): Required at hire

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS): Required within 6 months for Emergency Services and ICU

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS): Required within 6 months for Emergency Services only
