Job summary

Northfield Hospital & Clinics is seeking a Registered Nurse, Float for the Nursing Administration team in Northfield, MN. The role involves direct nursing care for patients across hospital and outpatient settings, using critical thinking and nursing knowledge to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.

The RN will provide age-specific care across neonatal to geriatric patients, adhere to department policies, and contribute to a safe environment.

Qualifications

  • Current RN license with Minnesota Board of Nursing in good standing.
  • Minimum 2 years RN hospital experience.
  • Current BLS must be enrolled in NH+C RQI program and complete quarterly assignments.
  • Current ACLS must be enrolled in NH+C RQI program and complete quarterly assignments.
  • Current PALS must be enrolled in NH+C RQI program and complete the requirements within 90 days; TNCC current or obtained within 6 months.
  • Current NRP and STABLE certification (if not current will need to obtain in the first 6 months).
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training (NVCI).
  • Workplace Violence education in New Employee Orientation and annually thereafter.
  • Certified Sedation Course (if not current will need to obtain in the first 6 months).
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently to ensure safe and effective communication in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

Summary

TheRN Float positionprovides direct professional nursing care for patients admitted to the hospital as well as in the hospital outpatient departments by utilizing nursing knowledge and critical thinking skills. Performs technical nursing functions, utilizes the nursing process to assess patient status, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care. Ensures a therapeutic and safe environment for patients and families within the guidelines and policies of the department and the philosophy of the organization. This position provides age-specific and developmentally appropriate care for neonate, adolescent, and adult and geriatric patients.

Compensation

Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, educationand internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is: RN ASN, $42.70—$60.28; RN BSN, $44.41—$62.69; RN MSN, $46.18—$65.20. Theseranges reflectthe base ratefor this position.

Key Accountabilities

Patient assessment

Assesses patient’s condition based upon observation, examination, and / or interview, laboratory findings, and other pertinent information.

Completes assessment in specified time frame.

Identifies and consistently recognizes changes in normal and abnormal parameters in the patient’s physiological and psychological condition.

  • Uses professional judgement and critical thinking to prepare, prioritize and execute the patient’s plan of care consistent with patient assessment data and physician’s treatment plans and professional standards of evidence-based practice.
  • Directs and delegates support personnel in implementing patient’s plan of care, provides supervision and guidance.

Patient interventions

  • Implements nursing interventions to achieve progress toward expected patient outcomes or to stabilize a patient’s condition and / or prevent complications.
  • Consistently follows patient care and facility policy and procedures in performance of one’s duties.
  • Renders professional nursing care including administering medications, starting intravenous fluids and blood products.
  • Performs all technical skills required for unit patient population such as, but not limited to IV venipuncture, restraint application, sterile dressings, etc.

Evaluation of care

  • Evaluates and documents patient’s response to nursing care and modifies or revises treatment plans, and / or contacts physicians as circumstances require.
  • Documentation reflects evaluation of patient response to nursing actions.
  • Provides and documents patient / family education based on diagnosis, treatment plan or prescribed medical regimen in accordance with patient / family readiness and ability to learn.
Required Qualifications
  • Current RN license with the Minnesota Board of Nursing, in good standing

Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years current experience in hospital clinical practice.
Schedule

60 hours per two-week pay period (0.75FTE)

7:00pm-7:30am

Every third weekend and every third holiday

Eligible for Shift Differential Pay in addition to base wage

Paid Time Off accrued starting on first paycheck
