Job summary

Northfield Hospital & Clinics in Northfield, MN seeks a Registered Nurse, Float to provide direct professional nursing care in hospital and outpatient settings. You will utilize critical thinking to assess patients, develop and evaluate care plans, and ensure a safe environment across age groups from neonate to geriatric.

The role includes night shifts, a 0.6 FTE schedule, and comprehensive benefits. A strong focus is on evidence-based practice and collaboration with the Nursing Administration.

Qualifications

• Current RN license with the Minnesota Board of Nursing, in good standing.
• Minimum 2 years RN hospital experience.
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS enrolled in NH+C RQI program with quarterly updates.
• TNCC, NRP and STABLE current or obtained within 6 months.
• Non-violent crisis intervention training (NVCI).
• English proficiency for safe and effective communication in healthcare.

Summary

The RN Float position provides direct professional nursing care for patients admitted to the hospital as well as in the hospital outpatient departments by utilizing nursing knowledge and critical thinking skills. Performs technical nursing functions, utilizes the nursing process to assess patient status, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care. Ensures a therapeutic and safe environment for patients and families within the guidelines and policies of the department and the philosophy of the organization. This position provides age-specific and developmentally appropriate care for neonate, adolescent, and adult and geriatric patients.

Compensation

We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, educationand internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is: RN ASN, $42.70—$60.28; RN BSN, $44.41—$62.69; RN MSN, $46.18—$65.20. These ranges reflect the base rate for this position.

Key Accountabilities

Patient assessment

Assesses patient’s condition based upon observation, examination, and / or interview, laboratory findings, and other pertinent information.

Completes assessment in specified time frame.

Identifies and consistently recognizes changes in normal and abnormal parameters in the patient’s physiological and psychological condition.

• Uses professional judgement and critical thinking to prepare, prioritize and execute the patient’s plan of care consistent with patient assessment data and physician’s treatment plans and professional standards of evidence-based practice.
• Directs and delegates support personnel in implementing patient’s plan of care, provides supervision and guidance.

Patient interventions

• Implements nursing interventions to achieve progress toward expected patient outcomes or to stabilize a patient’s condition and / or prevent complications.
• Consistently follows patient care and facility policy and procedures in performance of one’s duties.
• Renders professional nursing care including administering medications, starting intravenous fluids and blood products.
• Performs all technical skills required for unit patient population such as, but not limited to IV venipuncture, restraint application, sterile dressings, etc.

Evaluation of care

• Evaluates and documents patient’s response to nursing care and modifies or revises treatment plans, and / or contacts physicians as circumstances require.
• Documentation reflects evaluation of patient response to nursing actions.
• Provides and documents patient / family education based on diagnosis, treatment plan or prescribed medical regimen in accordance with patient / family readiness and ability to learn.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license with the Minnesota Board of Nursing, in good standing
• Minimum 2 years RN hospital experience
• Current BLS must be enrolled in NH+C RQI program and complete the requirements within 90 days of enrollment. Must remain current (complete quarterly assignments prior to the end of each calendar quarter).
• Current ACLS must be enrolled in NH+C RQI program and complete the requirements within 90 days of enrollment. Must remain current (complete quarterly assignments prior to the end of each calendar quarter).
• Current PALS must be enrolled in NH+C RQI program and complete the requirements within 90 days of enrollment. Must remain current (complete quarterly assignments prior to the end of each calendar quarter).
• Current TNCC certification (if not current will need to obtain in the first 6 months).
• Current NRP and STABLE certification (if not current will need to obtain in the first 6 months).
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training (NVCI)
• Workplace Violence education in New Employee Orientation and annually thereafter.
• Certified Sedation Course (if not current will need to obtain in the first 6 months) this is a one-time requirement.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently to ensure safe and effective communication in a healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five years current experience in hospital clinical practice.

Schedule

48 hours per two-week pay period (0.6 FTE)

7:00pm-7:30am

Every third weekend and every third holiday

Eligible for Shift Differential Pay in addition to base wage
