Summary

The RN Flex Ability Nurse 4 (FAN 4) at North Oaks Medical Center is primarily responsible for his/her patients.They shall possess the qualities most exemplary of the nursing profession.These qualities include compassion, empathy, accountability, honesty, together with the knowledge and skills they have learned within their nursing education.The RN Flex Ability Nurse (RN) shall adhere to the Standards of Practice of NOMC.The requirement will be 4 shifts 1 week and 3 shifts the next week in a PP. However, during times of Pandemic, crisis or disasters the requirement will be to schedule 4 shifts each week.

The RN Flex Ability Nurse 4 (FAN 4) is a member of the health care team and is responsible for providing quality nursing care utilizing NOMC standards of care.RN Flex Ability Nurse 4 (FAN 4) will uphold the philosophy and objectives of Nursing Service, is a resource person for other members of the health care team and will utilize effective communication between personnel, physicians, other hospital departments, patients and families while providing quality patient care.

1.Previous Experience Required: Must have minimum of 2 yearexperience as an RN. May consider 5 years of LPN experience in lieu of RN experience. Critical care experience preferred.
2.Specialized or Technical Education Required:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, and be currently licensed as a RN by the State Board of Nursing. Membership in a professional organization is encouraged.

Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

1.Insure the maintenance of quality patient care.
- A.Utilize nursing process (assess, plan, implement and evaluate) for each patient on an individual basis.
- B.Assist with QA audits.
- C.Administer medications as ordered by the physician.
- D.Document in the electronic medical record the patient response to medication and procedure, vital signs, nurses’ notes, and any other interventions and/or communication with the healthcare team.
- E.Monitor patient receiving I.V. conscious sedation as per policy.
2.Administer blood, blood components, hyperalimentation and chemotherapy.
- A.Adhere to hospital policy in regard to blood and blood components.
- B.Adhere to hospital policy for administering hyperalimentation and chemotherapy.
3. Adhere to policies and procedures.
- A.Responsible for adherence to hospital policies and procedures for self and personal under his/her supervision.
- B.Adhere to acceptable dress code.
- C.Report incidents and injuries.
- E.Demonstrate professional manner.
- F.Comply with the Attendance Policy.
- G.Knowledgeable of all hospital safety codes and able to perform duties during drills and actual emergencies.

4.Assist in operational functions.
- A.Assist department manager in maintenance of policies and procedures.
- B.Schedule assignments of personnel as applicable.
- C.Assist department managers with data collection.
