Job summary

BayCare in Tampa is seeking a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to join the surgical team at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital. The role requires CNOR certification, OR proficiency, and leadership within the nursing staff.

You will perform trocar insertions under direct supervision and assist with local anesthetic injections, while maintaining patient care standards and mentoring team members. Schedule is 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, full-time, in-person with on-call responsibilities; BayCare offers

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years acute care RN Operating Room experience required
• CNOR certification required
• Registered Nurse First Assistant Technical Program completion or degree required

Responsibilities

• The RNFA is proficient in patient care with managerial skills.
• Acts as a professional role model for nursing team; develops self and team and shares information
• Performs trocar placements under direct surgeon supervision and injects local anesthetic under supervision
• Complete assigned competencies and obtain physician sign-off for trocar placements with multiple surgeons and injections within 90 days

Summary:

The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) responsibilities include:

• TheRegistered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is proficient in the care of a patient population utilizing effective managerial skills.
• Acts as a professional role model for other members of the nursing team. This position is responsible for developing self and team members and sharing organizational information
• Position requires Trocar insertion under direct surgeon supervision and requires injection of local anesthetic under surgeon supervision
• Competency - Must complete assigned competencies and obtain physician sign off for 6 trocar placements with at least two different surgeons and 6 local injections with at least two different surgeons within 90 days.

For this position, a minimum of 3 years' experience in the Operating Room is required for consideration. CNOR certification is required. Registered Nurse First Assist Technical Program completion or degree required.
