Job summary

Mercy St Louis Hospital in Missouri is seeking an RN First Assist for the Main Operating Room on a PRN basis. The role involves applying the nursing process to patient care, coordinating perioperative activities with surgical teams, and maintaining patient rights and confidentiality.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited nursing program, active RN licensure in the state, at least 1 year perioperative nursing experience, and current BLS/ACLS within first year.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Active RN licensure in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 1 year perioperative nursing experience.
• BLS/ACLS required within first year.
• CNOR and/or RN-First Assistant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates continued competence in assisting perioperative nursing.

• 27 Operating Rooms
• Seven specialty teams, including:
  • General Surgery

  • Robotic Surgery
  • Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT)
  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Neurosurgery
• Four state-of-the-art surgical robots

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Licensure: Active RN licensure in the state of practice.
Experience: Must have a minimum of 1-year perioperative nursing experience.
Certifications: BLS/ACLS required within first year.
Other: Demonstrates continued competence in assisting and in perioperative nursing.
Preferred: CNOR certification and/or RN-First Assistant certification class preferred
