Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking an RN First Assistant to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-family centered perioperative care across the OR and related units.

The role functions as an RN first assistant during operative and invasive procedures and, when needed, as an RN circulator, ensuring compliance with credentials, privileges, education, and competency verification.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a school of nursing.
• Completion of AORN-RN First Assistant program (includes didactic and clinical components).
• Two years perioperative RN or RNFA experience; CVOR requires three years as RN or Surgical Tech.
• Current Georgia RN license or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
• CNOR certification and BLS certification desired; ACLS/PALS may be preferred depending on patient population.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective, and high-quality patient-family centered perioperative care.
• Fnctions as an RN first assistant during operative and other invasive procedures and throughout the perioperative continuum.
• When needed, serve as an RN circulator in the OR.
• Maintain scope of practice credentials, privileges, experience, education and competency verification.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate from a school of nursing. Completion of an AORN-RN First Assistant program, which includes didactic and clinical components.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Two years perioperative RN or RNFA experience. If working in the CVOR, minimum experience of three years as an RN or Surgical Tech in the CVOR.

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: RN First Assistant certification (CRNFA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, depending on patient population
