Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Temple in Texas is seeking an experienced ER Registered Nurse for a Level I Emergency Department. The role supports adult patients with a fast-paced team, including stroke and chest-pain care protocols. Mid-shift, full-time hours are 3 p.m. to 3 a.m., in a 636-bed teaching hospital environment.

Our ER handles ~220 visits daily and features 50 exam rooms and 6 trauma bays. Nurses work closely with ED providers, social workers and registration to deliver top-tier care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program.
  • RN license.
  • BLS certification or obtain it within 30 days of starting.
  • One year of ER RN experience required.
  • Specialized nursing field as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed clinical assessments and create care plans.
  • Educate patients and families; document learning needs.
  • Prioritize safety, effectiveness and efficiency in care delivery.
  • Collaborate with ED providers, social workers and registration.
  • Engage in teamwork to meet goals and improve ED experiences.

About the Facility

Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital is a 636‑bed specialty care teaching hospital and the only Level 1 Trauma Center between Dallas and Austin.

Shift & Hours

Mid‑Shift, Full Time – 3 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Unit Summary

Busy ER in a level one Trauma Hospital – Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center. Average 220 visits per day. Our RN staff are proficient in Stroke and STEMI activations and established care guidelines. This fast‑paced ER environment depends on teamwork. We have 50 exam rooms and 6 trauma bays. RNs work closely with ED providers, social workers, and registration because we are truly in it together.

Patient Care

The Emergency Department primarily cares for adult populations, but pediatric patients are also cared for as needed.

Professional Growth

Registered Nurses can be involved in improvement projects, shared governance, department committees, and councils. Everyone’s voice matters. This unit provides staff the ability to learn new skills, improve time management, and be part of a team focused on making ED experiences better for everyone.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

Essential Functions Of The Role
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional to maintain therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members. Empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and community to create care plans. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Use different strategies for problem‑solving with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth. Contribute to peers’ development and show community service commitment.

  • Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area. Understanding of hospital procedures and rules.
