Job summary

Huron Regional Medical Center in Michigan is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver direct nursing care to clients and families. The role involves communicating effectively with the health team and ensuring the best patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in South Dakota.
  • BLS certification required, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC to be completed within 6 months.
  • Proficiency in assigned clinical area expected after 6 months.

Reports To: Coordinator of Emergency Department

Status: 60-72 hours per two week pay period with cross training to Outpatient

Shift: 12 Hour rotating shifts, rotating weekends and holidays

Job Schedule: Part time

Weekly Hours: 30-36 hours

Remote Position: No

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care for individual clients and families. The Registered Nurse communicates with and on behalf of the client and coordinates client care with all health team members. The Registered Nurse organizes those aspects of nursing care for which s/he is accountable in a specified work period.

  • Accurately and thoroughly documents care plan, interventions, procedures performed according to policy.
  • Participates in the medical plan of care for the patient. Accurate completion of medical orders. Reviews plan of care with patients and motivates them to achieve mutual goals. Evaluates the effectiveness of the care plan, reassesses and reviews as needed.
  • Demonstrates clinical knowledge, analytic abilities, and independent judgement necessary to provide patient care for patients.
  • Follows infection control procedures and universal precautions according to established policy and procedures.
  • Promotes and maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients, families, healthcare personnel and the facility.
Other Job Duties
  • Psychosocial and spiritual aspects of care are addressed, and communication interventions documented.
  • Assumes personal responsibility to complete all required competencies, certifications, annual HealthStream education and SQSS tasks within the assigned timeframes.
  • Participates in hospital’s quality, risk, and utilization plan by attending meetings and other activities.
  • Demonstrates open communication and teamwork within each unit, between units, and house wide. Utilizes problem‑solving methods to resolve differences with others in a non‑judgmental manner.
Requirements
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in South Dakota
  • Certification: BLS required; ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC required in the first 6 months of hire
  • Following a formal orientation, proficiency in the assigned clinical area is expected within six months.
  • Failure to comply with standards of nursing care of HRMC may result in consequences to continued employment.
  • Cross training is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Utilizes computer system and software.
  • Completes competencies on department equipment.
Physical Aspects of the Job
  • Requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, feeling, talking, hearing, and moderate exertion/lifting of clients or equipment.
  • Risk exposure to communicable or infectious disease.
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions & atmospheric conditions.
  • Limited exposure to outside environmental & atmospheric conditions.
Essential Physical Demands
  • Lifting, 50” occasionally; Lifting, 20” frequently.
  • Lifting, 10” constantly; Transfers: 0-40# frequent.
  • Carrying: 0-20# occasionally; Push/Pull: 0-35# occasionally.
  • Sitting: 10-30% frequent; Standing: 80-40% frequent.
  • Walking: 10-30% frequent.
Mental Requirements
  • Basic Reading, Writing, and Math skills.
  • Complex Tasks to include patient education delivery skills.
  • Basic Computer and clerical skills.
  • Proficiency in critical thinking.
  • Task oriented with the ability to follow instructions.
