Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. is seeking an Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. This role includes pre-procedure assessments, intra-procedure support, and post-procedure recovery care.

You will collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced procedural setting.

Qualifications

• Current RN license (DC or compact, must have by start date).
• Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience.
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or Red Cross).
• Endoscopy or procedural RN experience preferred.
• BSN or higher degree in nursing preferred.
• Specialty certification (CGRN or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-procedure assessments and patient education.
• Administer medications and moderate sedation per protocol.
• Monitor patient condition throughout procedures, responding promptly to changes.
• Provide recovery and discharge teaching to patients and families.
• Collaborate with physicians and team members to optimize workflow and patient safety.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and safety standards and hospital policies.
