Description

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department provides direct and indirect patient care. They apply the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including patient and family education and care planning. The RN must have good communication skills to effectively communicate with physicians, peers, patients, and families. They work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure quality care.

Essential Functions

1. Providing nursing care appropriate to the patient's condition and needs.
2. Collaborating with physicians and healthcare professionals.
3. Establishing and reviewing the patient care plan.
4. Administering medications and treatments within scope of practice.
5. Documenting patient care activities accurately.
6. Using computer systems and medical equipment.
7. Educating patients and families about treatment, diagnosis, and self-care.
8. Following standards of care to promote positive outcomes and safety.

Qualifications

• Active TN RN license or compact license with intent to obtain TN RN license within 30 days.
• Current BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• ACLS, PALS certifications within 90 days of hire.
• HWC certification within 6 months of hire.
