Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky is seeking an experienced ER RN to provide high-quality emergency care within a collaborative team. You will lead nursing staff, perform rapid assessments, and support providers with procedures while maintaining patient dignity and safety.

The role requires an ADN/ASN, KY RN license, and BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC certifications with timely completion. A BSN is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN) from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN license in the State of Kentucky.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required within specified timeframes.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision of personnel on Nursing Units, assigns and evaluates patient care, and monitors staff performance.
  • Matches resources to provide patient care and maintain a therapeutic environment.
  • Monitors staffing and resources to align with patient care needs.
  • Communicates personnel concerns to the Unit Manager.
  • Uses a structured approach to problem-solving in clinical settings.

This position is eligible for up to a $25,000 sign-on bonus AND up to $24,000 Student Loan Assistance

Essential Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Provides direct supervision of personnel practicing on Nursing Units, makes patient care assignments, evaluates assignments, facilitates patient throughout, and directly observes staff performance on their assigned shift.

  2. Proactively matches existing resources seeking ways to provide patient care that supports staff and maintains a therapeutic environment.

  3. Monitors productivity and assures that staffing and resources are aligned with patient care needs.

  4. Communicates personnel related concerns to the Unit Manager.

  5. Uses a logical, systematic approach to problems and problem-solving.

Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN) from an accredited school of nursing.
Required Licensure and Certifications
  • Current RN license in the State of Kentucky

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) via the American Heart Association (AHA)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) via the American Heart Association (AHA) within 3 months of hire

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) via the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hire

  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 12 months of hire

PREFERRED Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)

  • Previous nursing experience in Telemetry, Cardiac, Emergency or Critical Care service lines

Where You'll Work

As an ER Nurse CHI Saint Joseph Health, you’ll be the first touchpoint to the people in our community during health emergencies.

No two days in emergency nursing are ever the same. You’re a multitasker who can react quickly as you’ll prioritize patients based on their medical necessity while you’re providing emergency triage to others. As part of our ER team, you’ll partner with an experienced clinical team to deliver stabilizing care to our patients by performing IV starts, foley catheter insertions, or aiding providers with chest tube insertions.

To thrive as an ER nurse, you should exhibit teamwork, professionalism, critical thinking skills, and a willingness to take on additional projects such as patient experience initiatives. More than anything, you should be energetic and motivated to provide quality care to all of our patients, maintaining their dignity at every step.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use emergency triage protocol to intake, discharge or admit patients.

  • Deliver stabilizing care to emergency patients of all ages as part of the larger ER team, adapting care to changes in patient’s condition as needed.

  • Use knowledge of cultural differences to provide patient care that is sensitive to and consistent with cultural values, beliefs, and customs. Document the nursing care plan and changes in the patient's condition.

  • Engage in other activities that will benefit patient outcomes, such as patient experience initiatives, mentoring, etc.

Pay Range

$30.00 - $43.50 /hour
