Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) night shift is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to patients in a fast-paced emergency setting. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care. The nurse must maintain strong communication skills and work effectively during overnight hours to support patient needs and emergency interventions.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs in the ER setting.

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.

  • Respond promptly to emergencies and provide critical care as needed.

  • Document all patient care activities accurately and timely.

  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case reviews.

  • Ensure infection control and patient safety protocols are followed.


Required Skills & Certifications:


  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.

  • Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.

  • Proof of negative TB screen within 12 months of contract start date.

  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in ER or critical care.

  • Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


Preferred Skills & Certifications:


  • Experience working night shifts in an emergency room setting.

  • Prior experience in critical care or trauma nursing.

  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.


Special Considerations:


  • Work primarily overnight shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am.

  • Three 12-hour shifts weekly, totaling 36 hours guaranteed.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress emergency environment.

  • Compliance with hospital infection control and safety protocols is mandatory.


Scheduling:


  • Three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 pm to 7:30 am).

  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week.

  • Shift schedule may require flexibility based on department needs.
