Job summary

AHMC HealthCare in Monterey Park, CA seeks an Emergency Room Registered Nurse to deliver high‑quality care using the nursing process from assessment to evaluation. You will triage, stabilize, and plan patient care while coordinating with physicians and the multidisciplinary team.

Role requires California RN license, BCLS/ACLS/PALS, CPI/AB508 upon hire, and at least one year in acute care; ER experience preferred.

Job description

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care based on established clinical nursing care for patients the medical surgical services based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Serves as the Resource nurse role when oriented and as directed. Supports the organization vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient's age, developmental status, spiritual and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.

Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse (RN) Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment & Emergency Intervention
  • Rapid Triage & Assessment Conduct immediate and continuous clinical assessments of patient needs upon arrival, utilizing direct observation and triage protocols to establish nursing diagnoses and prioritize care based on acuity.
  • Emergency Stabilization Proactively identify signs of physical and behavioral decompensation; initiate timely, evidence-based life‑saving interventions and stabilization techniques in accordance with established standards of practice.
  • Adaptive Care Planning Develop, review, and revise individualized plans of care every 24 hours or as patient conditions warrant, ensuring continuity of care and setting new goals as clinical problems are resolved.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Clinical Documentation Perform legible, timely, and accurate documentation of all nursing interventions, medication administration, and vital signs, ensuring records reflect patient diagnosis and status.
  • Safety & Regulatory Standards Uphold National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG), including fall prevention, skin integrity management, and appropriate monitoring and management of therapeutic restraints.
  • Ethical & Regulatory Adherence Maintain full compliance with all departmental policies, HIPAA requirements, and JCAHO/DHS/CMS standards, conducting all clinical and business interactions in an ethical and trustworthy manner.
Service Excellence & Collaboration
  • Multidisciplinary Teamwork Employ effective collaborative strategies to coordinate total nursing care, working in unison with physicians, allied health staff, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve departmental goals and resolve operational challenges.
  • Patient Education & Advocacy Assume responsibility for educating patients and their families regarding diagnoses and discharge instructions, ensuring comprehension and compliance with follow‑up protocols prior to discharge or transfer.
  • Professional Rapport Facilitate effective two‑way communication with patients, visitors, and hospital staff, maintaining a courteous, efficient, and professional demeanor at all times, regardless of the clinical environment.
  • Unit Preparedness Proactively maintain the unit, ensuring all supplies, emergency equipment, and medications are adequately stocked and operational at the start of each shift and as needed.
  • Reliability & Initiative Independently recognize and perform required duties; manage time effectively to meet work priorities while adhering strictly to hospital policies regarding attendance, punctuality, and conduct.
Required Qualifications Education, Experience, and Certifications
  • Academic Foundation Must be a graduate from an accredited professional nursing program. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in leadership, interdisciplinary teamwork, and professional communication strategies to support continuous quality improvement.
  • Professional Licensure Maintain a current and valid Registered Nurse license for the State of California.
  • Clinical Certifications Possess and uphold BCLS, ACLS, PALS (must be AHA), and NIHS Stroke certifications at the time of hire and maintain current throughout employment.
  • Obtain CPI/AB508 certification upon hire and maintain current.
  • NRP and Basic Dysrhythmia certificates are preferred for specialized clinical support.
  • Communication Excellence Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal English skills to facilitate effective two‑way interactions with the healthcare team.
  • Clinical Experience Minimum of one year as a registered nurse in an acute care setting; Emergency Room experience is preferred.
