Job description

The Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse (BSN) is responsible for delivering safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care in a high-acuity Emergency Department. This nurse holds shift accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care in accordance with the Nursing Process, the State Nurse Practice Act, and hospital policies. The ER RN utilizes critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership skills to anticipate and manage rapidly changing clinical situations. The role requires teamwork, adaptability, and a strong commitment to patient safety and quality improvement.

Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 7p - 7:30a, EOW and EOH

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver direct care to Emergency Department patients with a focus on safety, timeliness, and excellence.

Perform rapid assessments, initiate emergency interventions, and manage care based on patient acuity.

Utilize clinical judgment and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to provide optimal care outcomes.

Delegate tasks appropriately based on staff licensure, experience, and skill level.

Supervise and support nursing assistants and ancillary staff to ensure coordinated and effective care.

Maintain compliance with hospital procedures, infection prevention protocols, and regulatory guidelines.

Participate in trauma/resuscitation response and assist with Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI) procedures.

Maintain complete and timely documentation using Cerner EMR system.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

Licensure: Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Required

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Required

Experience:

Minimum 2-3 year experience required
